Skate Asia Returns to Malaysian Home at Sunway Pyramid Ice 

The rink that helped nurture Olympics and SEA Games athletes hosts the 24th and largest edition of Skate Asia in its 37-year history


The 24th and largest edition of Skate Asia ever held in its 37-year history will be at Sunway Pyramid Ice. From 6 to 16 August 2026, the competition gathers 1,400 skaters representing 38 ice-rinks across Asia-Pacific for more than 4,000 competitive programmes.

Skate Asia is hosted by a different country each year, returning to Malaysia as part of a four-year regional rotation. Organised in collaboration with Ice Skating Institute Asia (ISIAsia) and supported by the Ice Skating Association of Malaysia (ISAM), the 11-day competition places Malaysia at the centre of the Asia-Pacific skating community.

President of Ice Skating Institute Asia, Harry Janto Leo said, "Regional competitions provide insightful exposure to the community. Participants get to study different styles and compete with international standards which is essential for athletes to improve. Skate Asia creates that environment while remaining welcoming to developing skaters. Hosting this competition in an established rink with a strong public presence creates visibility for talents and helps to create awareness of this sport far beyond the skating community."

This year, the championship returns to Malaysia for its seventh edition in the country since 1999. To date, Sunway Pyramid Ice has been selected to host every Malaysian edition. The rink’s repeated selection is a testament to its ability to host major competitions, nurture talents, and support the growth of sports in Asia.

As Malaysia's longest-serving ice skating rink steps into its 30th year, Sunway Pyramid Ice has built a rare sporting legacy in a tropical country, giving generations of skaters a consistent place to learn, train, and compete.

Its proudest achievement lives on in champions such as Fang Ze Zeng, who won gold for men's singles figure skating at the 2025 SEA Games, and Julian Yee, who became the first Malaysian figure skater to compete at the Olympic Winter Games in 2018. Both started their journey at Sunway Pyramid Ice and went on to win many prestigious medals for Malaysia.

Positioned at the heart of Sunway Pyramid and visible from five surrounding levels, the ice rink highlights elite competitions within a vibrant lifestyle setting. Sunway Pyramid Ice is an inspiring world-class environment where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy recreational skating and develop their talent towards competitive excellence.

The Skate Asia opening ceremony kicks off with a flag parade for participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Vietnam, and the USA. The celebration continues with an engaging dance on ice by Crowns Cheerleading & Tumbling, a 24-festive drum performance by Sunway University, and a special performance by competition alumni and SEA Games Gold medallist, Fang Ze Zeng, powered by LEPAS.

Bangkok: Shopping Haven (Part 3) Terminal 21

In my 3 days in Bangkok, I visited Terminal 21 three times because that was the closest mall nearest to my hotel and it's just 10 min's walk away from the hotel where I stay  Four Points Hotel (To read more about this hotel, click  here ) It's from my part 1 blogpost ASOK Station is the closest BTS station to Terminal 21.  The overhead walkway also links the BTS to the mall. So convenient for visitors. Just next to the Terminal 21 shopping centre is  the  Grand Centre Point Hotel  which is super luxurious and offers free flow of coffee and drinks to guests at the lobby.  Stepping into the mall, I was captivated by the colourful umbrellas that creates a great work of art to add plenty of colours to the mall.Wonder how they do the balancing act. My Blue and Purple Manic Panic Hair Colours

Today I decided to test on the  Manic Panic  hair colours which I ordered with the help of  Miss Avantlamode The far left bottle is shipped from the US (ordered from Avantlamode)  while the right side is from Canada (my sis sent it to me). Hence the difference in packaging. Looking at the different packaging, I wrote in to Manic Panic months ago and Manic Panic has confirmed that the Canada Packaging is not a fake. Phew!  I have been wanting blue and purple hair for the longest time.  A month ago I bleached part my hair at a salon and did some ombre colours but it did not come out as I expected or rather it was below my expectations after paying a bomb for it!
