Philips Domestic Appliances
Malaysia today set a new benchmark in modern home living at Harvey Norman Mid
Valley KL Flagship Store with its Malaysia Book of Records achievement for
ironing the most number of school shirts in 60 minutes – 49 shirts. The newly
upgraded PerfectCare Steam Generator has powered through school shirts in
record time, proving its ability to reduce the average ironing time by up to
half to transform everyday household routines for busy Malaysians.
“At Philips, meaningful
innovations always circle back to solving real day-to-day challenges,” said
Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia Commercial Director, Patt Sue-Ann. “In
Malaysia, ironing school uniforms can be time-consuming for many families. With
the newly upgraded Philips PerfectCare Steam Generator, we create solutions
that help people live better, save time and enjoy more meaningful moments with
their loved ones”.

“We were so excited planning
today’s feat that we actually spent time among our internal team to time ourselves
while ironing school uniforms,” Sue-Ann added. “Imagine the variety of
school uniforms that we have here in Malaysia, from primary to secondary school
uniforms. Then, you have the variations between boys and girls and pinafore and
baju kurung with hijabs. Let’s not forget school prefects with their blazers
and ties! So let us do the heavy lifting for you”.
Sue-Ann further explained, for
the purpose of setting a new Malaysia Book of Record’s title, Philips focused
on the short-sleeved shirts worn by boys and girls. “As of January 2026, the
Ministry of Education in Malaysia estimated about 5 million children under 18
are attending schools. Philips wants to be part of that journey to ease the
responsibility that is mainly put upon parents”.
The attempt to set the new record
was completed by Philips appointed “Ironman”, Creative Consultant and
stylist, Nik Erwan Nik Roseli who has worked with various leading brands
including Uniqlo and Rizman Ruzaini and styled popular celebrities including
Merqeen, Hael Husaini and Shiha Zikir. “With close to 20 years of experience
in fashion designing and styling, I have worked with all types of fabrics.
Using the right iron can protect your clothes and save up ironing time,
especially when it comes to details like collars, buttons and pleats,” he
said. “With this Philips PSG, I was able to finish one shirt in less than
one minute!”
Also attending the
record-breaking private event was the Malaysia Book of Records’
spokesperson, Megat Faris Megat Muzzafar Shah. “We pride ourselves to be
part of this achievement with Philips Domestic Appliances Malaysia. This is in
line with our 30 years of history in documenting and celebrating achievements
in the country. Having been awarded a title in the Malaysia Book of Records
also strengthens trustworthiness among Malaysian consumers,” he said. Megat
Faris has been tasked to assess and judge the challenge before officially
declaring the official record.
“We are excited to be part of this
achievement. Harvey Norman is committed to giving our customers access to the
world’s leading brands, backed by knowledgeable Product Specialists who can
help them find the right solution for their needs. This record reflects our shared passion with
Philips for innovation that makes a meaningful difference in everyday life.,”
said Yvonne Chin, Assistant General Manager, Small Appliances & Personal
Care Department, Harvey Norman Malaysia.
The event brought together members of the media, influencers and industry associates, alongside well-known personalities including Norreen Iman, Catriona Ross and Kenzo Katarmo, adding even more energy and excitement to the record-breaking occasion.
