 As Japan’s summer holidays approach, Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang (MOP KLIA), Japan’s premier branded factory outlet shopping mall, invites shoppers to discover the essence of Japan at its first-ever Bon Odori festival, slated for the weekend of 10th and 11th August 2024, starting from 4pm onwards, at the mall’s outdoor carpark (Zone A).

With the Bon Odori Festival coming to MOP KLIA, lovers of Japanese culture need not travel far to be transported to a mesmerising world filled with Japanese-themed décor. The festival features traditional Chochin (Japanese lanterns), vibrant Wagasa (Japanese umbrellas), and dazzling fairy lights, creating a stunning spectacle that captivates both day and night—perfect for Instagrammers eager to capture the essence of this summer festival.

 


For just two days, shoppers can immerse themselves in a kaleidoscope of Japanese-themed activities and performances, including a Yagura stage that anchors the event’s layout, inviting the public to participate in an interactive dance performance. Other exciting activities awaiting visitors include the traditional Bon Odori dance, Japanese dance group showcases, and Wadaiko drumming. Additionally, MOP KLIA is pleased to present HOSHI-NO-OKA at the event, a Japanese rock band formed by a quartet of talented newcomers - Cyen, Kano, Sasha, and Angela, showcasing the collaborative efforts of renowned Japanese producer Kenta Matsukuma. 


To enhance visitors’ experience, MOP KLIA has announced a complimentary treat for those who dress in traditional Japanese Yukata or Jinbei outfits at the festival. Moreover, shoppers interested in experiencing wearing a Japanese outfit can opt for the Yukata Rental Experience program, which allows them to rent the traditional attire for memorable photo opportunities.

 

To top it off, game enthusiasts among visitors should not miss the chance to drop by the free-entry game booths, designed to entertain shoppers upon a minimum spend at any participating outlets in MOP KLIA.
