German watch brand Laco launches two limited edition pilot watches, Augsburg Olive 42 and Aachen Olive 42. Each model is limited to 250 pieces each. The subtle vintage colour scheme underscores the masculine charm of these historically inspired designs, giving them a distinctive appearance.

Vintage Colour

Bold colour choices have been already featured in two other recent special editions of Laco's Aachen and Augsburg pilot watches, successfully adding a surprisingly contemporary feel to these classic designs. Following the previous version in taupe, the German watch manufacturer has opted for another striking natural shade with its 2021 olive edition.

It is no coincidence that military units and special forces use this dark earthy colour – and an increased spirit of adventure is guaranteed. For these two new timepieces, the colour forms the perfect backdrop for the striking, functional typography, which has been associated with the well-known Laco navigator watches from the 1940s.

Classic designs that never goes out of style.

In authentic style, the luminous colour used for the numbers and hands is Superluminova "Old Radium", which has a vintage brown shade during the day, but glows bright green in the dark. The stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and has a bronze coloured PVD coating, further accentuating the "used" look of these watches. The concise crown allows to operate even with thick aviator gloves and similarly evokes the company's pilot watch tradition.

Precision is ensured by the Laco 21 watch movement, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. This mechanism is based on the tried and tested Miyota 821A self-winding movement and offers a power reserve of 42 hours as well as a stop-seconds function, which enables the time to be set precisely. Laco also offers the option of configuring the watch with the Laco 31 movement. Technology connoisseurs will love the blued screws and a power reserve of over 60 hours.

The harmonious appearance of these new designs is beautifully complemented by a sturdy strap made from vintage leather, which will develop an individual patina over time. In keeping with the pilot watch style, the strap features decorative rivets which, like the buckle, are colour coordinated with the case.

The Laco Augsburg Olive 42 and Aachen Olive 42 is available for purchase at retail price of RM2,200 at www.redarmywatches.com.my and Red Army Watches Malaysia boutiques located in Pavilion KL, 1Utama and Gurney Plaza.
