Okonomi Pavilion, Love at First Bite

コンニチワ

A Gastronomic Journey of the senses

The next time when you visit Paviion KL at Tokyo Street, Level 6, be sure to check out one of their latest Japanese Restaurant called OKONOMI .

OKONOMI means "what you like" in Japanese and is an informal restaurant that evokes a vibrant atmosphere with casual vibes of downtown Tokyo. This is the place where chef Takeshi Wada shows his prowess, serving up his signature specialties to tempt your taste buds. House specials by resident teppan specialist and chef Takeshi Wada include okonomiyaki, yakiniku, yakisoba, teppan set meals and multi-course meals amongst others.

We came, we saw and we were smitten. It was love at first bite!
We were lucky to have Chef Wada-san cook up a storm for us at Okonomi and tantalize our taste buds.

Course Menu

Let me share with you some of their amazing dishes from the
Okonomi Christmas Special Course.
First on my MUST-TRY list which I highly recommend is this Australian Wagyu Sirloin
Soft, juicy and tender, it melts in your mouth.
Australian Wagyu Sirloin

The Australian Wagyu Sirloin is meticulously prepared by Chef Wada-san. You can clearly see the outer parts are well done and the inner parts are semi cooked which is why it's juicy and tender. Thumbs up and well done Chef Wada-san. We loved this to bits!

Ral d'Avinyo Pork

An exquisite French Rack cut of pork is transformed into this beautiful presentation.
This was the other main dish that we tried, the Ral d'Avinyo Pork. The meat for the Ral d'Avinyo is based on a practically extinct pig breed in Europe that has remained intact and pure for the last 200 years. This is a crossbreed between 2 rustic pigs, a Berkshire male and a Duroc female that are fed with traditional cereals with slow unhurried breeding techniques. This resulted in more sweet, tender and tastier meat.

Part of the Okonomi Christmas Special Course
also includes the following dishes done to perfection.

Salad
A great mix of colours with an appetizing dressing as starters

Black Sesame Tofu
This tofu has a very unique wobbly texture that seems to dance in your mouth.

Pork Belly Omelet
Wrapped inside this omelet is aromatic pork belly

Avocado Cheese
This is one of my favourite too. The cheese melt is lightly salted and super crispy. A burst of cheesy aroma lingers in our taste buds as we took our first bite. The avocado is soft and easily chewable and it goes really well with that lightly salted crispy cheese.

Okonomiyaki
Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake containing a variety of ingredients in a wheat-flour-based batter. The batter is perfectly done. The mayonnaise in moderation does not end up soaking the entire Okonomiyaki. The cabbage is crunchy and not too wet on the inside. And the sauce topping is one of the best I have eaten!
My sis was just telling me a few months ago, how much she craves for a good OKONOMIYAKI.
And here, at Okonomi we found our perfect Okonomiyaki! Thumbs up!
Chef Takeshi Wada hard at work preparing the Okonomiyaki in his 3 different heat teppan work station. According to him there are 3 different temperatures which ranges from 150°C , 200°C and 210°C for to bring out the best of those dishes. Talk about professionalism!

Authentic Matcha Ice Cream

Delightful Yuzu Ice Cream

Yuzu Ice Cream is my favourite due to its unique flavour which not many Japanese Restaurant has.

Chef Takeshi Wada is the co-owner and chef at Okonomi.

Thank you for having us! We had a blast!
